Adriana Brownlee has made history by becoming the youngest woman ever to summit the world’s 14 tallest peaks, as well as the first British woman ever to do so. This extraordinary feat that has captured the attention of the mountaineering community and beyond. Her journey is not only a testament to her physical and mental resilience, but also an inspiration for aspiring climbers around the globe.
On October 9th 2024, Adriana reached the summit of Shisha Pangma (8,027m) without supplemental oxygen; the last of the 14 peaks she needed to climb to complete her goal. Her journey began in 2021, when she successfully climbed Mount Everest - the highest mountain in the world standing at 8,849m. Now, 3 years later at just 23 years old, she has become the youngest woman to complete this feat.
Each of the 14 peaks, all exceeding 8,000 meters, presents its own unique set of challenges, including extreme altitude, harsh weather, and technical climbing demands. To prepare for each summit, Adriana has spent plenty of time in the mountains of Nepal, guiding peaks such as Kilimanjaro, and physically preparing herself for the possible obstacles and challenges that the mountains present. Having witnessed catastrophic events linked to the pursuit of high altitude mountaineering, Adriana now aspires to promote skills and safety for the next generation of mountaineers.
“It was long and extremely cold but I still have goosebumps remembering the moment I could finally see the summit."
