UPDATE FROM THE MOUNTAIN
August 2023
Adriana Brownlee successfully summits Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II - completing 13 of the world's 14 highest peaks that she seeks to climb
Adriana has successfully reached the summit of Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II, the eleventh and thirteenth highest peaks in the world. This achievement marks the penultimate summits of her quest to conquer all 14 of the world's highest peaks.
Braving severe cold and high winds, Adriana navigated the mountain’s icy slopes successfully reaching the summit of Gasherbrum II with supplemental oxygen, after two previous failed attempts without. Gasherbrum I was a different story, with Adriana and her partner, Gelje successfully completing their summit attempt of G1 without supplemental oxygen. For Adri, this was her first ever 8,000m peak without the use of supplemental oxygen. A huge milestone in her journey.
Adriana has now just one peak left - Shishapangma - to achieve her goal of climbing all 14x peaks that reach over 8,000 meters above sea level. In doing so, she is on course to become the Youngest Woman in the world to do so.
