Dual-layer technology
VALLON Freebirds™ and Stairways™ feature best-in-class dual-layered lens technology from leading optics specialists, Carl ZEISS, and Mazzuchelli.
Both models feature composite lenses made with two respective layers - an outer lens designed using ZEISS impact-resistant 1.6mm polycarbonate shield technology, and an inner anti-fog lens from Mazzuchelli.
SHAPE
Sphere or Cylinder
Freebirds™ have spherical lens from ZEISS, giving the ultimate field of vision.
Stairways™ have a cylindrical lens from ZEISS, giving excellent peripheral vision.
BLUE LIGHT
Attenuation
ZEISS’ Sunlens development team undertake extensive on-field research focussing on the impact of blue light on optical performance during skiing and snowboarding.
Some blue light is needed (in the range of 400-420nm) to help our eyes perceive contrast and definition on snow and ice. ZEISS’s SONAR technology allows only the pure blue light pass through, suppressing the ‘blue haze’ effect.
READY FOR ALL CONDITIONS
Interchangeable lenses
No single lens will cover you for all weather conditions whilst skiing and snowboarding, which is why we offer interchangeable lenses (Cat. 1 - Cat. 3) for our ski and snow goggles.
COLOUR
Performance tint
The color tint of our lenses is important for optimising vision in different light conditions experienced in mountain environments. We advise that you think about the conditions you are most likely to be experiencing on your trips, and buy a couple of lenses to match.
SONAR
The Orange Lens
The ZEISS-patented SONAR Orange lens is available as an interchangeable lens for VALLON Freebirds™ goggles.
This taylor-made hue has excellent contrast enhancing properties and color brilliance, ideal for low-medium light conditions.
The lens has a specific spectral curve that acts as a blue light attenuator, tested to maximise safety by helping you detect irregularities in the surface of snow quicker.
